Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati revealed that throughout this year until the end of August, state spending was recorded at IDR 1,930.7 trillion or positive growth of IDR 15.3%.

“This is mainly for spending related to implementing national development programs and maintaining people’s welfare,” said Srimul, who is also Chair of the Financial Sector Stability Committee (KSSK) at the Bank Indonesia (BI) office, Friday (18/10).

State spending, he continued, includes central government spending which reached IDR 1,368.5 trillion or grew 16.9% year on year (yoy).

“Meanwhile for transfers to regions, spending from the center given to regional governments reached IDR 562.1 trillion or a growth of 11.6%,” explained the Minister of Finance, who is familiarly called Srimul.

He said that the realization of high growth in state spending occurred due to the implementation of various programs whose benefits were directly felt by the community, especially social protection programs, subsidies and infrastructure development.

“Also, support for activities for the 2024 election and later regional elections will influence the speed of spending,” he added.

Another thing that has caused the growth in state spending is that the government last August paid salaries and allowances for ASN TNI Polri. Million including THR 13th salary and salary increases for both ASN TNI Polri and for retirees as well as implementation of national strategic projects (PSN)

“This is all what causes growth in state spending from 2024 to August to experience a quite strong positive increase,” he stressed. (Z-11)
