Djokovic won a record 24 Grand Slam titles

Serbian star tennis player Novak Djokovic won the US Open tournament for the fourth time, along with which he also equaled the world record of winning the 24th Grand Slam singles title.

Earlier, Margaret Colt held the record of winning the most Grand Slam titles 24 times.

Novak Djokovic defeated his Russian rival Daniil Medvedev six three, seven six and six three in the final.

“I don’t know where to start,” said Novak Djokovic, wearing a white jacket number 24, when receiving the trophy. It means the world to me.’

“It is difficult to describe,” he said. I never thought I would talk about (winning) 24 Grand Slams but over the last few years I have realized that I have an opportunity so why not take advantage of it.’

The Serbian is the first player to win three Grand Slam events four times in a single season.

“He (Djokovic) is a different type,” Djokovic’s coach Goran Ivanisevic said. There are not many people like him in the world in terms of sport. It is one of the greatest achievements in the history of the game.’

“First of all I want to ask Novak: what are you still doing here,” Medvedev quipped.

“I don’t know when you’ll slow down,” he said. I mean my career is not bad and I have 20 titles. You have 24 Grand Slams. Wow wow.’

Medvedev beat Djokovic in the 2021 final to prevent him from becoming the first player since Rod Laver in 1969 to win all four Grand Slams in the same year.
