Originally, the handball club had until Friday to bring in NOK 25 million to ensure continued operations, but after a player signed up at the last minute, they have been given two more days, stated chairman Peter Gitmark on Friday afternoon.
– The most important thing is that it is not over yet. We have been given two new days to hope that this project will continue, says coach Hlavaty to NTB.
He and the players did not get paid on Friday. Gitmark said the same day that he hoped it would be paid out at the start of next week. Hlavaty says that he is naturally affected by the situation.
– It is very tough. I personally want to protect this sport from such. The players deserve to be protected, he says and adds.
– I don’t want to speak for the players, but I saw that the players did their best to focus on sports. I am very proud of how they have reacted and how they stand together.
Could be the last game
On Saturday afternoon at 6 p.m., a championship match against Buducnost from Montenegro awaits. Hlavaty hopes that home court advantage will help the team and that as many people as possible will make the trip to support them.
– It is important that we play at home, and I hope that the hall will be full. The spectators are the most important thing for us.
– I have never been in such a situation before. You are on the edge of survival, concludes Hlavaty.
New board meeting on Sunday
Gitmark stated on Friday that a final decision on continued existence will be made on Sunday evening. The club needs at least ten million kroner to ensure operations through the season.
– Then we will have both enough capital to go through this season here and to rig the next season based on what we have in terms of expected income. It will also take care of the acute parts of the debt, Gitmark told NTB after the board meeting.
The group that can save Vipers is national and should have no connection to the Kristiansand area.
