The Chinese company JingJin confirmed that it will be one of the participants in the National Sanitation and Environment Fair, FENASAN, a sanitation sector event that will take place from October 22nd to 24th in São Paulo. On this occasion, the company will present a new waste treatment technology, the Multi Disk Screw Dewatering Press (MDS). The equipment specially prepared to operate in low concentrations of solids, as in the case of sanitation, accelerates the dewatering and disposal of sanitary sludge.
According to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), at least a quarter of the country’s population still does not have access to basic sanitation and around 74% of solid waste is dumped without adequate treatment in rivers and streams, which makes the issue an urgent topic on political and economic agendas. According to the Sanitation Legal Framework, the objective is that by 2033, 90% of the population will have access to sewage collection and treatment, which will require innovative and sustainable solutions. It is with these goals in mind that the Chinese giant JingJin, through JingJin Brasil, announced that it will bring the equipment to the Brazilian market.
According to the company, the innovative equipment has undergone performance tests in sewage treatment units in the country and can be an alternative to current treatment technologies in use in Brazil, such as centrifuges and drying beds. The Dewatering Press – MDS, brought from China and now available for the Brazilian market, will be on display at the company’s stand during FENASAN alongside a team of company consultants who will present the solution and its technical specifications. According to Wesley Xavier, CEO of JingJin Brasil “The energy consumption of the equipment is up to ten times lower, operating at low speeds (less than 10 RPM) and, due to its autonomous and automated operation, the MDS does not require the constant presence of operators , which significantly reduces operational costs for sanitation companies. Furthermore, tests indicated that MDS performs better than conventional solutions, reaching up to 25% solids concentration in real treatment conditions.”
Still according to Xavier, the innovation brought by JingJin is not restricted to the equipment itself. MDS can be coupled to filter presses, increasing sludge dehydration by up to three times, which significantly reduces disposal costs and increases the competitiveness of sanitation processes. JingJin occupies a relevant share of the market for equipment with advanced technology in solid-liquid separation and is present in more than 120 countries. With a broad presence in the national filter press market, the company has a headquarters in Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, offering technical assistance and supply of spare parts to Brazilian customers.
With the promise of a disruptive technology, the sanitation sector in Brazil can gain an important boost, both in terms of economic viability and in improving the efficiency of the services provided. The expectation is that JingJin’s MDS will be one of the highlights at Fenasan 2024, and that its adoption will help accelerate the universalization of sanitation, ensuring a more sustainable future for millions of Brazilians. The fair will take place at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo with the central theme “Environmental Sanitation: a fundamental condition for tackling climate change” and is promoted by the Association of Sabesp Engineers (AESabesp), in partnership with the Association of Sanitation Specialists ( AESAN).
