More than 20 Indian airline flights canceled due to false bomb threats

At least 20 airline flights indias originating or destined for that country were affected this Saturday due to false bomb warnings. This situation has raised the total number of aircraft impacted by similar threats to more than forty in the last week in the Asian country, according to the PTI news agency.

A plane from the Indian airline Vistara, which was flying between New Delhi and London, was the first to be forced to change its route in the last 24 hours. This detour took him to Frankfurt airport (Germany) after receiving a false bomb threat.

Several Indian airline flights were modified

During Saturday, several aircraft of Indian airlines Air India, IndiGo, Akasa Air, Vistara, SpiceJet, Star Air and Alliance Air were forced to modify their itineraries due to similar threats.

The incidents have been frequent and have mainly impacted flights in the south and west of India.

Several planes operating routes from the international airports of New Delhi and Mumbai, the country’s busiest, have been forced to modify their flight plans.

More than forty planes originating or destined for India have faced problems in recent days due to false threats, which are common in this Asian country, although not as intense as those of recent days.

Last Thursday, the Mumbai Police arrested a minor as allegedly responsible for the first false bomb warnings of the week, which led to emergency maneuvers in places such as Singapore and Canada.

Indian Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has stated that “all other persons responsible for the disruptions will be identified and appropriately prosecuted.”

India’s Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) recommended in June that people responsible for issuing these frequent false warnings against airports and aircraft be banned from flying for five years.
