According to ISPR, an Afghan soldier stationed at the friendship gate of Chaman border crossing along the Pak-Afghan border opened fire on passers-by going from Pakistan to Afghanistan without provocation and indiscriminately, resulting in the martyrdom of two Pakistani citizens including a 12-year-old child. And one child was injured.

According to ISPR, the incident took place at the outbound gate on the Zero Line, but the security forces showed utmost restraint and avoided firing in the presence of innocent passengers to avoid casualties.

The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to DHQ Hospital, Chaman, while the injured child, who was immediately pulled out by the security forces, is undergoing treatment.

According to the ISPR, the reason for this irresponsible and careless act has been inquired from the Afghan authorities and contacted to arrest the culprit and hand them over to the Pakistani authorities. Afghan authorities have been asked to show responsibility and discipline to avoid such incidents in the future.

ISPR says that Pakistan is committed to playing its role for peace, prosperity and development through positive and constructive bilateral relations, however such unfortunate incidents are likely to undermine the sincerity and purpose.

Meanwhile, the caretaker federal interior minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the incident and said that two Pakistani citizens were martyred in firing from the Afghan border on the Pak-Afghan border Chaman Bab Dosti. A senior citizen and a child are among the martyrs.

Sarfraz Bagti said that the Pakistani forces showed perfect restraint and patience on unprovoked firing and our soldiers avoided retaliatory firing due to the presence of civilians. It is hoped that the Afghan government will take strict action on this incident. Such incidents have a negative impact on bilateral relations.
