Cuban comedian Ulises Toirac gives his opinion on energy measures: “unconvincing and alarming”

The Cuban comedian Ulises Toirac expressed his opinion on social networks about the recent appearance of the Prime Minister of Cuba on television, focused on the critical energy situation in the country.

Through a publication in FacebookToirac expressed his concern and skepticism regarding the solutions proposed by the government, describing what he saw as “unconvincing” and, even more so, “alarming.”

Toirac began by pointing out that the creation of photovoltaic parks, mentioned as one of the solutions to address the energy deficit, is not viable in the short term given the current conditions of the country, which include lack of control and lack of coordination.

Although 30 parks are proposed with a total capacity of 600 MW, Toirac recalled that only on the night of the appearance the energy deficit reached 1,600 MW, making it clear that the proposal is far from covering current needs.

Likewise, the comedian emphasized the seriousness of the problem with the delay in fuel payments and the lack of a reliable crude oil supplier as Venezuela once was.

In his opinion, the situation is worsening week after week, showing that Cuba’s thermoelectric plants have reached their operating limit, with increasingly frequent breakages and a lack of resources to repair or replace them effectively.

Toirac questions the solutions proposed by the government

Toirac described the situation as a “vicious circle” in which a lack of fuel causes less electricity generation, leading to more blackouts and a decline in productivity, affecting export capacity and consequently further reducing production. foreign exchange inflow. This dynamic only aggravates the crisis, according to the comedian.

Finally, he criticized the Prime Minister’s appearance, highlighting that the issuance of the emergency measures plan came at the worst moment, with the feeling of improvisation and lack of foresight.

Toirac concluded his publication with a gloomy forecast about Cuba’s energy future, predicting that the situation could worsen by next summer, even if the photovoltaic parks are operational.

In the comments, several users agreed with his analysis, highlighting the lack of real solutions and the deepening of the energy crisis, with hasty measures that, in their opinion, will not solve the country’s structural problem.
