The President of South Africa urges BRICS to enhance cooperation in the field of advanced technologies

The South African President’s statement came in a speech via video technology to participants in the plenary session of the BRICS Business Forum held today in Moscow, with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He expressed his hope that the BRICS Business Forum would help participants move from the communication stage to concluding contracts. He pointed out that the forum would help advance the BRICS economy.

The South African President stressed that the new workforce will make the African continent an engine of growth in the future, and called on other BRICS countries to participate in building roads, ports and railways.

Ramaphosa stated that South Africa has a diversified economic base and rich natural resources, and stressed that the African Free Trade Area provides great opportunities for investment and industrial growth.

The President urged the BRICS countries to enhance cooperation in the field of advanced technologies, and said: “While the global economy is going through profound technological changes, the BRICS countries must create an environment of cooperation to promote advanced technologies.”

BRICS is an international group that was established in 2006, and Russia has assumed its presidency since the beginning of this year, 2024.

In addition to Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa, Egypt, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Ethiopia have joined BRICS since the beginning of 2024.
