Senate adjourned without approval of twenty-sixth constitutional amendment – Pakistan

The government could not present the 26th constitutional amendment for approval in the Senate session even today. The meeting will resume tomorrow at 11 am.

Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani presided over the Senate meeting in which the twenty-sixth constitutional amendments were to be submitted for approval by the government.

During the session, a resolution was brought to adjourn the question period which was approved. At one point, Chairman St. Yusuf Raza Gilani proposed to adjourn the meeting for one hour, which was supported by Senator Irfan Siddiqui.

Yusuf Raza Gilani said that a meeting is being held and there is also a cabinet meeting. If deemed appropriate, the meeting should be adjourned for up to one hour, however, the meeting was continued and the Deputy Chairman Senate continued to conduct the proceedings of the meeting.

Atta Tarar said that despite the 18th amendment, the serious issues of peace and order were discussed together on making a national policy. The Prime Minister himself went to Karachi several times in the meetings of the National Action Plan. The National Action Plan brought together scholars and media, banned hate speech. The scholars had assured full cooperation.

Atta Tarar said that the National Action Plan was successful and terrorism ended, but then some people started the discussion of good Taliban and bad Taliban and they were brought back and settled. Today we are picking up dead bodies again. Terrorists are carrying out attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman said that ask anyone, no one knows the real issues. The Prime Minister says he does not know, he will find out. Unfortunately, even the responsible people are not aware of the situation. The demand of PTI people is that they should be allowed to meet the founder of PTI. They will be able to take a decision only after the meeting. The government should pay attention to this issue.
