The premises of the former “Trovamici” were inaugurated years ago, around 2007-2008fromformer mayor Salvatore Perrotta. For a couple of years it was a point of reference for the elderly in the area, the one close to the populous peripheral hamlet of San Rocco and via Borsellino. After a few years it was used as a warehouse for the companies that, over the years, managed the urban hygiene service in the area. For some time, however, the small structure had been in a semi-abandoned condition.
The 118 station was hosted for many years in the premises of the health district in via Falcone. In recent times, however, on the basis of an internal reorganization of the ASL, it was decided to deploy two ambulances in the municipality of Qualiano, where a new headquarters has recently been built and is still operational. The ambulances and their operators are busy not only in the Marano area, but also in the neighboring municipalities of Calvizzano, Mugnano, Villaricca and Melito.
The local health company – according to what was reported at the time by the 118 staff – also needed to find the premises in Marano where the volunteers were hosted. With the identification of a new structure, however, the scenario of transferring ambulances to another municipality – those supplied to Marano – seems to have faded.
In Qualiano, however, the station for health emergency operators was inaugurated two years ago. The activation of the station was the result of an agreement signed between the municipal administration and the top management ofAsl Naples 2 north. The premises are located in via Vicinale Chiantano, in the space of the former municipal reservoir. In that area, in the adjacent rooms, the employees of the city health company have also been on duty for some time.
