Users of Google Photos now have a more automated option to upload images to a specific folder on the computer — something until now possible on desktops only with the Google Drive application — via the web.
The feature works perfectly on macOS, you only need to access the address photos.google.com via Google Chrome or the platform’s web app, which can be downloaded via the browser.

Just click the “Upload” button and then select the “Back up folders” option to start the process, which involves choosing the folder in question through the Finder (on macOS) and granting permission for the browser to access it.
It is possible to add more than one folder for automatic backup by clicking the same button again. Through the same interface, it is also possible to remove a folder already added to the backup by clicking the three dots button.
Although “automatic”, as it is something web-based, it is necessary to have the Google Photos page (or the web app) open for the backup to be performed, and it is not something that occurs constantly in background.
Even so, it is an interesting option for those who, for some reason, do not want (or cannot) install Google Drive directly on their machine, as it is not necessary to select the folder again every time.
