A. Armonaitė criticized the intentions of the presidency regarding drugs: there will be a lot of advertising, the result is 0

After the meeting of the President Gitanas Nausėda with the Minister of the Interior Agnė Bilotaita, the Minister of Education, Science and Sports Gintautas Jakštas, the General Police Commissioner Renat Požėla, Kęstutis Budrys, the head of state’s chief adviser on national security issues, stated that drug use among teenagers is no longer just a national problem, it crosses the threshold of national security.

“As long as the Freedom Party talks about it, nothing will happen”

Reacting to this, A. Armonaitė, who is on a public visit to Japan, wrote on Facebook that drugs in schools and their growing use among schoolchildren is a huge problem.

“And it will only intensify, because everyone who tries to solve it does not see and does not want to see the essence,” she believes.

According to the politician, drones, dogs, batons, inspections – in global practice, it was a fiasco.

According to her, children are left to die by other children precisely because everyone is afraid. He is afraid of the police, he is afraid of the “punisher”, he is afraid of the cane.

“I am on a business trip to Japan and on the train I read the presidential advisor saying that this issue will need to be resolved in the National Defense Council.

I don’t know if this is the adviser’s idea or the president’s, there will be a lot of advertising, the result will be 0″, wrote A. Armonaitė.

In her eyes, the path to follow sounds simple, but it is difficult.

First of all, in the opinion of the leader of the Freedom Party, it is necessary to create the best possible conditions for children to attend clubs.

“We already have a system – a child can receive €15 for non-formal education circles, €20 in Vilnius (with the contribution of the municipality), but the amount has not changed since 2015. Let’s expand on this idea and empower schools to use bullying and suicide prevention programs.

If it’s important, funds can be found, it’s not billions. Children must have alternatives, rather than wandering around not knowing where and with whom,” she emphasized.

Secondly, according to A. Armonaitė, drug prevention must become an object of health and education policy from criminal policy.

“As long as the Freedom Party talks about it, nothing will happen. Judges, prosecutors, NGOs, health professionals, where are you?

We have not succeeded in replacing part of the criminal provisions with administrative ones and will not succeed as long as one voice is isolated, it will be caricatured, and there will be no systemic approach.

Are we going to use the military now? Maybe we should finally catch the distributors instead of the children? The Freedom Party will present its proposals to solve this huge problem soon,” she said in a post on Facebook.
