Psori across borders: Ali Sethi’s song popular in India

Pakistani singers Ali Sethi and Shay Gill‘s song ‘Pasoori‘, featured in Coke Studio Season 14, is gaining worldwide popularity.

The song’s video has become one of the fastest videos to reach 1 million views on YouTube and 10 million views in 10 days, while ‘Pasuri’ has reached 10 million views on YouTube after 90 days of its release. making it one of the most viewed Pakistani videos on YouTube.

The song is a hit from radio stations in Islamabad to nightclubs in New Delhi and house parties in Kathmandu.

The relationship between Pakistan and India, born from the common womb of India in 1947, has never been ideal. But in this atmosphere of conflict, this song created by Ali Sethi is bridging the gulf of hatred, enmity and bitterness.

Siddhi Mittal, a university student studying in New Delhi, told Independent Urdu: ‘I first heard this song on social media, it was very catchy and I searched for it on YouTube and since then it has been stuck in my head. .’

Mittal says: ‘The video of the song has been directed in such an aesthetic way that I always enjoy listening and watching the video. This song is different and better than the music we listen to nowadays.’

When I went out to talk to the youth of various colleges and universities in New Delhi about this song, I came face to face with a group of youth who were humming the same song while holding a guitar.

While this group of young boys and girls were singing, people around were standing and watching them attentively.

He didn’t care whether the song was Indian or Pakistani. They just wanted to enjoy his tunes and lyrics.

Aritra Sarkar is a young musician from New Delhi. He told Independent Urdu: ‘The main thing this song has done is to prove once again that music knows no boundaries.’

Eretra also praised Ali Sethi’s song and said that she has been listening to Ali Sethi’s songs for a long time.

Independent Urdu also contacted Sabra Yaqub. She works with an NGO in India’s interior state of Chhattisgarh and has a unique story about ‘psuri’.

Recently, a video of a woman from Uttarakhand singing a pasoori song went viral, on which Ali Sethi welcomed her.

Speaking to Independent Urdu, Mansa Jimmy said: ‘I was very happy when Ali Sethi started following me. I also knew that Ali was very generous to those who admired him.’

He said: ‘I wrote to him (Ali) that this act is too much to encourage a man who has loved you from such a distance for so long. After that you will want to work harder. He is a wonderful man. I think he is a great musician and a good person.’

The lyrics of ‘Pasoori’ are jointly penned by Ali Sethi and Fazal Abbas. Coke Studio Season 14 Director Zulfi has assisted Ali in composing the lyrics of this song.

Along with Ali Sethi, this song also features the voice of Pakistan’s rising young singer Shay Gill.

‘Pasoori’ was also featured in the latest installment of the American superhero series Miss Marvel and was in New York when Independent Urdu tried to contact Ali Sethi for the same purpose.

Ali Sethi could not be reached directly but his manager Anthony said he did not wish to comment at this time.
