India beat Sri Lanka to win their eighth Asia Cup

India won their eighth Asia Cup by defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final of Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo on Sunday.

India has won the Asia Cup the most times with eight trophies so far, while Sri Lanka have won the title six times.

Win the toss and decide to bat Sri Lanka cost and the entire Lincoln team managed to score only 50 runs against India’s disastrous bowling.

Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah scattered the Sri Lankan batting line like dry leaves as Sri Lanka lost six wickets for just 12 runs within four overs.

Mohammad Siraj took four Sri Lankan wickets in a single over. He took six wickets for a total of 21 runs. He was adjudged the best player of the match.

Hardik Pandya, who conceded just three runs, sent the three Lincoln batsmen back to the pavilion. Jasprit Bumrah managed to get one wicket for 23 runs.

Kisal Mendis was the top scorer for Sri Lanka by scoring 17 runs. The Sri Lankan team could play only 15.2 overs in total.

India’s target of 51 runs started when Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan completed the desired target in just seven overs playing some impressive strokes.

Sri Lankan bowlers could not take any wicket of India while Shubman Gill scored 27 runs and Ishan Kishan scored 23 runs.

The match was supposed to start at 2:30 PM Pakistan time, but due to rain, the match was delayed by an hour.

On the occasion of the toss, Sri Lankan captain Dashan Shanaka said that the wicket looked favorable for batting but spin could help in the evening.

They have confirmed that Sri Lankan spinner Thekshana will not represent Sri Lanka in this match while Dashan Hemantha has been included in the team in his place.

While on this occasion Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that he too would have won the toss and decided to bat first, but he hoped that he would try to put pressure on Sri Lanka from the start with his bowlers.

The Indian captain further said that he was very happy with Shubman Gill’s performance against Bangladesh.

According to the Indian captain, Washington Sundar was included in the Indian team instead of Akshar Patel for this match.

While the Sri Lankan team consisted of Kasal Perera, Pathum Nissanka, Kasal Mendis, Sidira Samravakarma, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya De Silva, Dashan Shanaka, Donith Villalaghe, Dashan Hemantha, Mathisha Pathirana and Pramod Madhushan.
