Many Android HP Users Switch to iPhones, Here’s the Reason – CNBC Indonesia

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Discussions about Android and iOS are endless. User debates are always related to the advantages and disadvantages of each operating system to support the experience of trying out mobile devices.

Even so, it seems that more and more people feel that iPhones based on iOS are better than other manufacturers based on Android.

According to the latest report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), as many as 17% of iPhone buyers in the second quarter (Q2) 2024 previously used Android cellphones.

This figure represents the largest percentage reported by CIRP for the Q2 period in the last 5 years. This means that more and more Android users are switching to iPhone.

Previously, in Q2 2023, only 10% of iPhone buyers were previously Android cellphone users. Last year recorded the smallest percentage in recent years.

Then, in Q2 2022, 14% of iPhone buyers will come from Android cellphone users. Previously, in Q2 2021 there was 12% and in Q2 2020 there was 14%, quoted from 91mobiles, Friday (18/10/2024).

It should be noted, Apple did not launch a new iPhone in the Q2 period. If many iPhone buyers in that period were former Android users, this means that the generation of iPhone purchased was not the latest.

This shows that there is a tendency for Android cellphone users to wait for the iPhone to be at least 2 quarters old before deciding to switch to an iOS device.

The driving factors can vary. Android users may need to consider longer and look at reviews on the market before deciding to switch. This could also be related to cheaper prices because there are already promotions for the new generation of iPhone.

Quoted from AppleInsider, Android users who switch to iPhone in Q2 2024 are not actually targeting the newest iPhone 15. For the record, at that time the iPhone 16 had not yet been released.

The reason is, the iPhone 15 faces fierce competition in China and makes overall iPhone sales plummet. It seems that Android users who switch to iPhone are targeting older models such as the iPhone 14, iPhone 13 and iPhone SE.

AppleInsider notes that switching the operating system from Android to iOS will significantly change the user experience. For this reason, Android users who switch to iPhone tend to choose a cheaper model to test whether they can adapt or find it difficult.

Apart from that, those who choose to buy the iPhone 15 are also tempted because of the big discounts offered by Apple. This is the first time Apple has implemented this discount strategy when there is no new generation, showing that the iPhone 15 series is not selling well.

The 91mobile report states that even in price-sensitive countries like India, most people prefer iPhones to premium Android cellphones.

For this reason, they are willing to wait for an older iPhone with a cheaper price, rather than buying a new flagship Android cellphone.

Apple’s annual sales in India this March reached US$ 8 billion, greater than US$ 6 billion in the previous year. This represents a growth of 33%.

Android vs. iOS: The Great Debate Continues!

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – So, here we are once again, diving headfirst into the never-ending saga of Android versus iOS, a narrative so old it feels like your granddad’s trousers. I mean, every time you turn around, someone’s arguing about which operating system is the best. It’s like a football match where nobody quite agrees on the rules, but everyone’s fighting just the same!

Now, according to the latest report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), the tides are shifting! A whopping 17% of iPhone buyers in Q2 2024 used to be Android users. That’s right, folks! It appears Android users are shedding their loyalty like a snake-inspired wardrobe change. It’s the largest switcheroo in the last five years! Clearly, people are throwing caution to the wind, and their Androids, as they flock to the iPhone camp!

Just a year ago, in Q2 2023, only 10% dared to switch teams. Talk about a high-stakes game! It’s like watching a soap opera where last season had a shocking twist, and everyone is suddenly rooting for the villain—aka Apple. It’s the technology equivalent of realizing that Santa Claus is actually your dad wearing a very questionable wig!

However, let’s not get too carried away with the celebrations. Remember, Apple didn’t launch any new iPhones during Q2—so these brave Android defectors didn’t even grab the shiny new iPhone 15. Nope! They were settling for older models like the iPhone 14 or even the iPhone SE! A classic case of the “I’ll just see how it all goes” approach before diving into the deep end.

And what’s causing this sudden trend? Well, a few factors could be at play: perhaps Android users are becoming more patient after years of operating their gadgets like they’re running a potato battery? Maybe they’re just waiting for the right discounts to climb aboard the Apple ship! Let’s face it: who doesn’t love a good deal? The lure of a discounted iPhone is stronger than a caffeine addiction at an all-nighter tech conference!

Interestingly, even price-sensitive folks in India are now flocking towards older, cheaper iPhones rather than spending the big bucks on flagship Android devices. Apple’s tally in India surged to a staggering US$ 8 billion in March, up from US$ 6 billion the previous year, reflecting a growth spurt of 33%. That’s like finding a ten-pound note in your winter coat—unexpected, but oh so nice!

However, let’s not forget that the iPhone 15 had to deal with that nasty competition in China. It’s right up there with the most intense rivalries, like cats and dogs or Netflix and everyone trying to share one password! This fierce competition might just explain why we’ve got a surge of less-than-shiny, previously adored Android users looking for a new cozy spot on the iOS side.

In conclusion, whether you’re Team Android or Team iOS, one thing is for certain: the mobile battleground isn’t going anywhere. It keeps evolving, much like my hairline—it’s just going backwards! So hold onto your smartphones tightly, and let’s see how this thrilling tech drama unfolds. Will more Android users forsake their green robot friend for the polished allure of the iPhone? Only time—and the next discount—will tell!
