The former British Tory government pursued the goal of flying asylum seekers to Rwanda. The plan failed on several points – and the current Labor government is not pursuing it any further.
Now the Netherlands wants to examine a similar plan. In the case of the Netherlands, rejected asylum seekers are to be flown to Uganda. Dutch Minister Reinette Klever from the right-wing PVV said this during a visit to the East African country.
According to Klever, this should be about African migrants who are not allowed to stay in the Netherlands and cannot return to their homeland. Uganda should accommodate them in reception camps and be financially compensated for this.
