Braking ramp prevented 18 accidents in the Pedrozo area since its installation

Asunción, IP Agency.- The emergency braking ramp located at the Pedrozo de Ypacaraí company, at kilometer 48.3 of route PY02, was used 18 times since its installation in 2023 and with this, serious accidents and human losses could be avoided.

According to official data from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), the aforementioned emergency braking system located at kilometer 48.3, on the steep descent of Caacupé Hill, was used so far on 18 occasions, four times. in 2023 and 14 times so far this year.

In this context, it is highlighted that, in less than 24 hours, two vehicles with mechanical failures avoided serious accidents through the use of this braking system on Tuesday.

It is a large truck and a public transport bus, which managed to stop safely, avoiding mishaps that could have had serious consequences.

The first incident occurred yesterday morning, when a Scania truck loaded with plywood had a failure in its brake system while traveling towards Asunción. In the emergency, the driver maneuvered with precision to enter the braking ramp, managing to stop the vehicle without causing damage or endangering other people.

The second episode took place this morning around 06:55, when a bus from the Villa Serrana company, which was traveling towards Asunción, also suffered brake failures.

There were 36 people on board the transport, who were unharmed thanks to the quick action of the driver, who used the emergency ramp and managed to stop the vehicle in a controlled manner, safeguarding the lives of the passengers and avoiding an accident in the middle of rush hour.

The braking ramp, installed in 2023 by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), is key to avoiding accidents on this critical section of the route.

Available 24 hours a day and free to use, it is specifically designed to stop vehicles with brake failure, offering a solution in emergency situations.
