CHALLENGES in the national tourism sector must be answered immediately so that consistency in increasing tourism marketing can be maintained.

“The next government is expected to be able to answer a number of challenges faced by potential sectors driving national economic growth, including the tourism sector,” said Deputy Chair of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Lestari Moerdijat, in a written statement, Monday (14/10).

At the Indonesia Tourism Outlook (ITO) 2025 Seminar with the theme Integration of Blue-Green-Circular Economy and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Realize Sustainable Tourism in Indonesia, last week, it was revealed that even though tourism marketing had increased by up to 30% compared to last year, tourism industry players who adopt digital solutions in marketing is only 40%.

Due to the relatively slow adoption of technology, Indonesian tourism still faces challenges, including visas that are not yet fully online. Apart from that, the price of domestic flight tickets is high and the readiness of infrastructure in a number of tourist destinations.

According to Lestari, a number of these challenges must be able to be answered with various efforts so that the potential in the national tourism sector can fully benefit the wider community.

Rerie, Lestari’s nickname, believes that increasing the capacity of the workforce and tourism actors in adapting to technological developments must be a concern in improving national tourism marketing.

Rerie, who is also a legislator from Electoral District II, Central Java, hopes that support for the growth of the national tourism sector next year will be significant for national economic growth.

The member of the NasDem Party High Council encouraged collaboration between the central and regional governments to be strengthened in an effort to realize better management of the national tourism sector, amidst rapid technological developments. (Z-2)
