The French pharmaceutical group Sanofi said:surprised“that the French investment fund PAI proposed on Thursday a”improved offer” hors “deadlines” for the acquisition of its subsidiary Opella, which markets Doliprane.

It’ssurprising that a revised offer is made public“, judges Sanofi in a press release, recalling having announced on October 11 its decision to negotiate exclusively with the American investment fund CD&R in order to potentially sell it 50% of Opella.

“A social point of view”

Sanofi recalls in its response that “the process of searching for a possible partner for Opella was long; that the candidates for participation all had the same opportunity to submit their best offer; and this, within the time provided by this process, identical for all“.

Sanofi is therefore surprised that an improved offer is being made now, outside of the deadlines and governance process that governed the decision.“, adds the group.

Sanofi’s announcement that it is moving towards an American buyer for its Opella subsidiary has raised concerns since last week from politicians and unions regarding France’s health sovereignty and jobs. The government is committed to requesting guarantees from the pharmaceutical group and the American fund.
