MINISTER of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said that during the 10 years of President Joko Widodo’s leadership, investment realization reached IDR 9,117.4 trillion from the fourth quarter of 2014 to the third quarter of 2024. Then, labor absorption reached 13,836,775 people over the last decade.

If detailed, investment realization in Jokowi’s first period was IDR 3,294.3 trillion from the fourth quarter of 2014 to the third quarter of 2019. Then, in the second period of Jokowi’s term of office he succeeded in bringing in investment of IDR 5,823.1 trillion.

“If we look at this, the total income from Jokowi’s investment realization for 10 years is IDR 9,117.4 trillion. The results are good,” said Rosan in the third quarter 2024 Investment Realization press conference at the Ministry of Investment/BKPM office in Jakarta, during (15/ 10).

In the data presented by Rosan, it can be seen that in Jokowi’s first period in office, the average additional investment was more than IDR 100 trillion each year. This number increased in Jokowi’s second term in office, namely an addition of around IDR 200 trillion each year from 2020 to 2024.

In 2020, investment realization reached IDR 826.3 trillion, an increase compared to the achievement in 2019 which amounted to IDR 809.6 trillion. In 2022, the total investment entering Indonesia will be IDR 1,207.2 trillion, this figure has increased compared to 2021 which was IDR 901 trillion. In 2023, the realization of incoming investment will jump to IDR 1,418 trillion. And by the end of this year, the target for investment realization is set at IDR 1,650 trillion.

Rosan said that the soaring investment achievements were inseparable from the confidence of investors both domestic and foreign in the conducive investment climate during the Jokowi administration.

“When I talk to domestic and foreign investors, they see very good economic and political stability, so investors’ confidence in investing their capital in Indonesia is increasing,” he said.

This additional investment is also in line with the increase in labor absorption in the country. In the last three years, said Rosan, the number of job opportunities has soared. From 1,208,022 workers in 2021, to 1,305,001 in 2022. This number has increased to 1,823,543 people.

“And this year labor absorption has reached 1,875,214 until September 2024. I am optimistic that by the end of this year the number will continue to increase,” concluded Rosan. (M-4)
