Elgin Solar launches new line of photovoltaic inverters with advanced security for solar systems
With new requirements from Inmetro and the Fire Department against short circuits and fires, which will become mandatory from December, the company Elgin Solar sees an increase in demand for on-grid inverters with AFCI in Brazilian territory
With more than 70 years of experience in Brazil, Elgin, manufacturer and distributor of photovoltaic equipment and provider of solutions in the areas of air conditioning, refrigeration, consumer goods and commercial automation, brings to the Brazilian market a new line of inverters with safety devices for solar energy systems.
These are on-grid inverters with AFCI, which have detection devices and interrupt unwanted electrical arcs in electrical circuits, both in software and hardware, offering an additional layer of safety in photovoltaic systems. The company’s new technologies comply with updates to Inmetro and Fire Department standards, which require specific systems against short circuits and fires.

Safety requirements will become mandatory in the country for all new solar systems installed by consumers from December this year. As a result, the Elgin Solar There has been a significant increase, in this second half of the year, in the demand for inverters with AFCI protection mechanisms.
“We permanently monitor changes in regulations and, for some time, our research and development (R&D) department had already been working on adapting our inverters to meet Inmetro and fire department requirements. We understand that this change is very important for the market, bringing an additional layer of security to photovoltaic systems”, says Glauco Santos, director of Elgin Solar.
