Four police personnel were martyred while a civilian was injured in an attack by militants on police lines in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to District Police Officer Bannu, the ongoing operation in the police lines has been completed and all the five attackers have been killed.
According to the local administration, on Monday, heavy firing was heard from the area of Bannu city where the police lines are located, after which the security forces surrounded the affected area.
This attack has been carried out at a time when the Pashtun National Jirga organized by the Pashtun Protection Movement has ended a day earlier. Several demands have been made in the Jirga, one of which is that steps should be taken to establish peace in the Pashtun areas.

Earlier, the spokesperson of the Medical Teaching Institute (MTI) in Bannu, Muhammad Nauman, said that in addition to the bodies of three policemen, an injured civilian was brought to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu. He said that curfew has been imposed in all hospitals in the city and all staff have been instructed to be present.
On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur expressed regret over the martyrdom of the officers in the attack on the police lines and asked for a report of the incident from the top police officials.
A Bannu police officer has said that according to initial reports, the attackers were riding in a Chung Chi rickshaw and were wearing burqas.
He said that the assailants attacked the officials posted at the gate of the police line in which three policemen were killed while four assailants were killed.
