The entire route is reopening

After today’s (15.10.2024) closure due to bad weather, the Samaria Gorge opens again tomorrow with the National Park accessible to visitors for the entire length of the route from both entrances.

Also, the measure of the maximum number of visitors to the Samaria Gorge is extended and reformulated to 1,200 people/day.

To avoid delays or even cancellations, visitors of organized groups will be admitted exclusively with an electronic ticket (

According to the Operating Regulations of the National Park, the movement of visitors to the Samaria gorge can be regulated (prohibited or restricted) in an emergency, if this is deemed appropriate by the competent services after receiving relevant updates.

As the organization points out, any extraordinary arrangements will be announced through press releases.
