Well, folks, grab your forks and knives because we are diving into a delightful slice of news from our culinary friends! Celebrations are in full swing at Schwalenstöcker & Gantz, affectionately dubbed “Schwalli.” The food service partner known for keeping hotels and restaurants well-fed has bagged the prestigious “Grand Prize for Medium-Sized Enterprises 2024”. Yes, you heard that right – it’s as if they’ve won the Super Bowl of schnitzels!

The Oscars of German Business: An Award Like No Other

Now, you might wonder, “What’s the big deal with this award?” Well, dear readers, the Grand Prize for SMEs is no ordinary trophy. It’s dubbed the “Oscar of the German economy”. Since 1995, the Oskar Patzelt Foundation has been putting a spotlight on medium-sized businesses that shine brighter than a disco ball at a wedding. With over 4,600 nominees this year, the competition was tougher than deciding which cake is best at a buffet – it’s pretty serious stuff!

This award isn’t just a popularity contest, mind you. Companies get evaluated on a buffet-style menu of criteria, ensuring they’ll score points for more than just fancy spreadsheets.

Criteria for Winning

  • Development of the company
  • Jobs and training positions
  • Modernization and innovation
  • Regional engagement
  • Customer proximity and service

Pretty comprehensive, right? That’s what you get when you want to find a winner who not only knows how to make numbers work but can also whip up a soufflé!

A Team Effort: The Secret Ingredient

And who accepted this glorious prize? The ever-dazzling Johanna Schirmer, the managing director – who by the way, was in full superstar mode on stage. “This award belongs to the entire team,” she proclaimed, like a proper stateswoman in a cheese hat. And quite rightly so! Thomas Raabe, the managing partner, also sang praises to his 200 colleagues, proving that teamwork really does make the dream work (or in this case, the “platter work”).

The Transformation from Eggs to Excellence

Now, let’s not forget the history of this culinary marvel. Founded back in 1969 as a humble chicken farm selling eggs, Schwalli has transitioned to a veritable titan in the food service industry, catering to around 2,800 customers over a 150-kilometer radius! That’s a lot of scrambled eggs turned gourmet meals. What a glow-up!

So, here’s to Schwalli! May your scrambled dreams continue to rise faster than a soufflé in a hot oven. With a team like yours, the future looks as bright as a freshly opened can of peaches!

Until next time, remember that behind every great meal, there’s a team of heroes – or at least a well-organized kitchen brigade!

Celebrations at Schwalenstöcker & Gantz, better known as “Schwalli”: The food service partner for hotels, restaurants and public catering from Korbach has won the coveted “Grand Prize for Medium-Sized Enterprises 2024”.

Korbach – The Grand Prize for SMEs has become one of the most prestigious business awards in Germany and is often referred to as the “Oscar of the German economy”. Since 1995, the Oskar Patzelt Foundation – a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and honoring German medium-sized businesses – has been honoring medium-sized companies that have excelled in various areas every year with the award.

Companies cannot take part themselves but must be nominated by third parties. This year, more than 4,600 companies from industry, trade, crafts and services made it onto the nomination list. But only a few can be happy about the trophy, which is awarded in a three-stage process.

The highlight of the award: It’s not just about numbers and growth, but about the big picture – a comprehensive evaluation of the companies that focuses on five criteria:

  • Development of the company
  • Jobs and training positions
  • Modernization and innovation
  • regionales Engagement
  • Customer proximity and service

Schwalli scored points in all areas. The award ceremony took place on September 21st at a gala in Würzburg. “This award belongs to the entire team,” said Johanna Schirmer, managing director of the majority shareholder Irene Gantz GmbH & Co. KG, who accepted the award on behalf of the company and later presented it to the managing partner Thomas Raabe.

“At Schwalli we know that success does not depend on individuals, but on the entire team. It is our 200 colleagues who ensure that our company runs smoothly every day. Without this team, this success would not have been possible,” said Thomas Raabe.

From chicken farming to food service

Schwalenstöcker & Gantz GmbH, affectionately known as “Schwalli”, was founded in 1969 as a part-time business raising chickens and selling eggs and has established itself as a leading food service partner for the hotel, catering and communal catering industry. The company currently employs around 200 people and supplies around 2,800 customers within a delivery radius of 150 kilometers.
