The percentage of filling water facilities in the Moroccan regions after the recent rainfall reached 28.43%.
According to updated data for dam injections dated October 13, 2024, the total volume of filling reached 4,770.50 million cubic meters of water, representing 28.43%, with a slight decline of 0.01% compared to the previous day.
In the details of the basins, the filling percentage of the Lokos Basin is 48.53%, the Sebou Basin is 40.72%, while the Tensift Basin is 44.40%. The Bouregreg Basin records 32.83%, while the filling rate in the Moulouya Basin is 34.78%, and the Ziz Coeur Gris Basin is 40.82%. As for the Draa-Oued Noun Basin, the percentage reached 29.24%, while the percentage for the Souss-Massa Basin reached 16%, with the lowest percentage recorded in the Oum Er-Rbia Basin at 4.53%.
The Umm Er-Rbia basin suffers from a continuing deficit in water imports for the fifth year in a row, as the dam reservoirs in it record low filling rates that often do not exceed 5%.
The injection capacity of some major dams has also declined to dangerous levels. The capacity of the Massira Dam (the second largest dam in Morocco) does not exceed 0.4% after its waters were completely depleted. The Ben Ouidane Dam also suffers from a decline in its capacity to 7.6%, while the level of the Hansali Dam has reached 2.6%, making it almost dry.
Most of these major dams are concentrated in the Oum Er Rbia water basin, such as the Masira and Ben El Ouidane dams, which supplied several cities with drinking water and contributed to the irrigation of agricultural lands.
