Corruption, Sogei manager arrested. Musk’s man in Italy is also among those under investigation –

Maxi investigation in Rome. Paolino Iorio, current general director of Sogei, an in-house company controlled by the Mef, was arrested last night for corruption and bid rigging during an exchange of a “bribe” of 15 thousand euros with an entrepreneur. The arrest was carried out by the PEF unit of the Guardia di Finanza as part of an investigation coordinated by the Rome prosecutor’s office in which 18 people and 14 companies are under investigation. According to the accusation, Iorio, now under house arrest, “in his capacity first as director of engineering, infrastructure and data centers and subsequently as general director of the publicly held company Sogei Spa, and therefore as a public official, unduly received, on several occasions, for the exercise of his functions, sums of money” from the entrepreneur.

There is also Andrea Stroppa, considered “Elon Musk’s man in Italy”, among the people searched in the investigation by the Guardia di Finanza, coordinated by the Rome prosecutor’s office. Stroppa’s name emerges from the 15-page search warrant that AGI is in possession of. A Navy soldier, we read, “in learning of the project aimed at the acquisition by the Italian government of the satellite system (Starlink, ed.) created and supplied by a well-known American group, takes advantage of the development at the VI department of which it is part of a meeting on the topic to subsequently engage and contact the group’s Italian representative, Andrea Stroppa”.

During the conversations, we read further, “it emerges that, on the one hand, the Navy officer plans” with another suspect “the inclusion of Olidata Spa in the deal and, on the other, the carrying out of a certainly illicit propagation for the benefit of Stroppa (and, through him, of his representatives) of confidential information regarding decisions taken during ministerial meetings. Event symptomatic of an agreement concluded, or in the process of being concluded, in order to benefit Olidata Spa and through the same as the Navy officer and another suspect, of the deals that the US group will be able to conclude with the Italian administration, thanks to the illicit intervention of the public official”.
