Musician from Tachira with international performance dreams of promoting culture in Rubio

Anthony Pérez is a musician from Tachira with international performance who dreams of leaving a cultural legacy to his homeland, Rubio. He began his musical steps in the band of the Los Andes School in the Junín municipality of the state of Táchira, to later join the National Orchestra System of Venezuela, a showcase that allowed him to travel to different parts of the world developing his art.

For 15 years he worked in the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, performing in various countries around the world. There he began his interest in orchestral conducting and developed projects such as the Venezuelan Brass Ensemble, with which he completed a national tour, which culminated in the Santa Bárbara de Rubio Church, with the presentation of some 35 brass and percussion musicians.

In his interest in popular music along with classical music, he began to play in the Jazz Big Band of the Orchestra System and in the Latin Caribbean Band, where he accompanied artists such as El Pollo Brito, Ronald Borjas, Luis Fernando Borjas, Servando and Florentino, among other national artists.

With the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, he was nominated for the Grammy Awards in 2007 for Best Classical Music Album; In 2016, as first trumpet of the Americas Symphony Orchestra, he joined the Unity band and had two nominations, winning the Latin Grammy for Best Salsa Album of the Year and another for Song of the Year.

He later won the Pepsi Music award for Best Classical Music Video, for a video of the third Marcelo Movement recorded in the Santa Bárbara de Rubio church.

Gastronomy and music

Pérez currently combines gastronomy and music in a restaurant that opened in front of the Plaza Bolívar, with which, in addition to having an economic benefit, it seeks to provide a cultural contribution to its land and inspire others to do the same. .

Artists such as Eric Chacón, Rawayana musician; Johan Escalante, from free covers; Franco Patiño, a soloist who pays tribute to Frankie Ruiz, who participated in Panama with Yo Me Llamo; and the musician Pedro Navarro, who won Grammys with Luis Fonsi for the single Despacito, have visited Anthony Pérez’s restaurant to participate in a podcast and give their cultural contribution.

“We interviewed all these artists. They come, they give masterclasses, for example, Eric plays flute, sax; Pedro plays the guitar and so on, and we give all this artistic knowledge that they have to the new generations. The idea is to leave a positive effect on society,” he said.

His biggest dream is that the historic center of the city of Rubio is like that of other cities, which have boulevards around the main squares.
