EU could accept the invitation to participate as an international observer in the presidential elections

After the National Electoral Council (CNE) would invite the European Union (EU) to participate as international observers for the presidential elections scheduled for next July 28, the international entity offered a response.

After a meeting with the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN), The representative of the EU Josep Borrell, expressed his concern about the political and social situation that Venezuela is experiencing, while he also talked about what an observation of these elections would be like.

In the same way, he urged the various political actors to join the process, without any limitations and without any type of repression.

In the same way, he advocated for a process of dialogue among Venezuelans, which would continue to be supported by the EU, all in the interest of achieving fair, credible and intelligent elections.

We reiterate our support for a dialogue process, carried out by Venezuelans, so that there are transparent and credible presidential elections and We reiterate to the parties to work on the path of dialogue for an electoral process in accordance with what was agreed in Barbados, make it fair and competitive“This was stated after the words offered by the UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights. We are concerned about the repression and arbitrary detention of politicians and civil society, threats and restrictions to human rights defenders and the recent rulings of the Supreme Court of Justice that prevent members of the opposition from exercising their fundamental political rights.”, he highlighted.
