Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman slammed new US sanctions targeting the country’s oil industry as a ransom for the Israeli regime following the Islamic Republic’s counter-operation against the occupied territories earlier this month.

Esmaeil Baghaei said in a statement on Sunday (13/10) that the ban was illegal and unjustified.

The US Treasury Department imposed new sanctions on Iran against a number of companies in the country’s oil and petrochemical industries in response to Tehran’s Oct. 1 attack on Tel Aviv.

Baghaei underlined Iran’s missile operation as a legal action based on international law and in line with the exercise of the inherent right to self-defense.

A Foreign Ministry spokesman condemned the US move to impose sanctions on several companies and ships over Washington’s claims of involvement in the transfer of Iranian oil products.

He called the sanctions a form of ransom for the rogue Israeli regime. (Press TV/Z-2)
