Rapid Support intensifies the bombing of El Fasher, and the army receives combat vehicles

Sudan – The Rapid Support Forces intensified their heavy bombardment on the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State (west).

Media said that the army received combat vehicles, a day after the President of the Sovereignty Council and Commander of the Sudanese Army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, inspected his forces in the strategic Mount Muya in Sennar State, southeast of the country.

A week ago, the Sudanese army announced the restoration of control over the Jabal Muya area in Sennar State, central Sudan, after fierce battles that lasted days with the Rapid Support Forces led by Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, who was Vice President of the Sovereignty Council before disputes erupted between the two sides, noting that the area Jabal Muya controls the supply and transportation routes in the states of Sennar, White Nile, Kordofan, and Darfur.

Al-Burhan saluted the officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the armed forces and other regular forces for “the great sacrifices they made in order to defeat the rebellion and restore security and stability in all parts of the country.”

In a related context, Sudanese media said that the army received a first batch of armored combat vehicles, days after the army began a ground operation to restore sites under the control of Rapid Support in the capital, Khartoum, but the momentum of the attack declined due to the deployment of large numbers of snipers on the roofs and balconies of buildings. High-rise.

A military source told the Sudan Tribune newspaper that 50 armored vehicles arrived at the Wadi Saydna military base north of Omdurman, stressing that successive batches of vehicles will arrive later, without clarifying the name of the armored vehicle or the party that delivered it to the Sudanese army.

During the battles between the army and the Rapid Support, the marching forces and snipers played an effective and decisive role, as the Rapid Support outperformed the army by deploying snipers on tall buildings in the areas under its control since the outbreak of the conflict.

In the west of the country, the Sudanese Ministry of Health said that the Rapid Support Forces renewed their bombing of the Saudi Hospital in El Fasher, yesterday, Sunday, which led to the death of one of the medical personnel working in the hospital and the injury of 15 others.

The Ministry indicated that the bombing caused significant damage to the departments of the only hospital operating in the besieged city for months.

Last August, Doctors Without Borders said that the Saudi Hospital was the last operating hospital in El Fasher, and was threatened with closure due to the violent events taking place in the city.

Since May 10, El Fasher has witnessed clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, despite international warnings of battles in the city, which is the center of humanitarian operations for all states of Darfur (west).

UN and international calls are mounting to end the war in order to spare Sudan a humanitarian catastrophe that has begun to push millions into famine and death due to food shortages due to the fighting that has spread to 13 out of 18 states.

Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been waging a war that has left more than 20,000 dead and nearly 10 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations.
