The president of RAS, the Railroad Regulatory Authority, was released with restrictive conditions, a short time ago, after her apology to the appellate investigator investigating the Tempe train tragedy.
The president of RAS, as reported by ertnews, is accused of the felony of disturbing the safety of transportation and the misdemeanors of homicide, grievous bodily harm and slight bodily harm by serial negligence. To this day it remains in place.
According to information, in her apology she claimed that as president of RAS, she has no responsibility for railway safety. The conditions imposed on her until the trial are the mandatory stay at her home (and not at another address or house) and the mandatory presence at the AT of her area on the first 10 days of every month.
According to judicial sources, in the next period it is expected that the cycle of prosecutions for the accident in Tempe will be further expanded, i.e. other persons will be prosecuted.
In the meantime, the NTUA expert’s report on the explosion and the fire that followed the collision of the trains is still awaited, an investigation ordered by the appellant investigator Sotiris Bakaimis.
In addition, the conclusion of a specialist metallurgist who examined a carriage of the commercial train, which had been transported to Thessaloniki, is awaited, as well as the results of the research on the video material recovered by a specialized laboratory in England and sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Greece and concerning the fatal route of the commercial train from Thessaloniki to N. Poros.
In the coming days, the appellate investigator will decide on the request of the victim’s father to investigate any criminal responsibilities of officials of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations regarding the way biological material was collected from Koulouri.
