Regarding the future of bilateral relations between Greece and Turkey, Erdogan appeared quite optimistic. Specifically, he said that “after the 2023 elections there was an understanding to see if we could solve the chronic problem between Greece and Turkey through a comprehensive negotiation”. He went on to point out that “together with the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, we gave political support to this process and our Ministry of Foreign Affairs proceeded with a comprehensive study on the matter. It is important that there is a will on both sides to define the problems, to describe their content and to find concrete solutions.”
He emphasized that Turkey and Greece are two neighboring countries with historical ties, noting that “the principle of good neighborliness is the key to a recipe that will benefit both countries.” He also estimated that the relations between Turkey and Greece are moving towards a better future, expressing the belief that the two countries can show a will for a solution and leave the problems behind.
Once again, he reiterated that Turkey calls for “defining the areas of maritime and airspace jurisdiction in accordance with International Law in order to increase security and stability, as well as to reduce the risks of conflict.” Everything must be settled only through dialogue and cooperation. In Belgrade, Erdogan signed a series of agreements with his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vucic, covering the defense industry, energy, sports, education and trade sectors, among others. Belgrade has expressed interest in the supply of drones from Turkey. Erdogan said that more than 30 countries from all continents, including Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Poland, Qatar and Ethiopia, are purchasing drones from Turkey.
