“Refene” plays in Brussels

The GREEK THEATER WORKSHOP and the AMATEUR SCHEME OF PATRAS “REFENE” they are presenting the show “Weeping but Greek” at the Theater Centre Community of Pretty Bois, Avenue of Stud 100 – 1150 WSP, 18 and 19 October 2024 (time 20:00).

It is a modular performance by the two Groups, in the context of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Hellenic Theater Workshop, with satirical one-act plays by five different authors, which compose images of the tragelafo we live in today’s Greek reality. Images in our own mirror, that we laughed with lately or… we cried with.

At 1^the part of the show The Hellenic Theater Workshop will present one-act plays by Giorgos Skourtis, wanting to honor this playwright whose unperformed play “The Trial of Orpheus and Eurydice” was first performed by the group in 1985. The theater group invited by the Hellenic Theater Workshop of “Refene” Patras, founded in 1999, will present at 2^the part works by: Georgia Dalkos, Stavroulas Pagonas, Thanasis Papageorgiou, and Elena Housni which have been awarded from time to time at the “Panhellenic Satire Festival of Amateur Troupes – Momos o Patreus”.

For 16 years now, the paternal team has been organizing “Momo” as part of the Patreon Carnival in collaboration with the Municipality of Patreon and the Region of Western Greece, with the support of DI.PE.THE. Patras and under the auspices of the “Society of Greek Playwrights, Theater Composers and Translators”. In this festival we had the honor to participate repeatedly and to be distinguished by the Hellenic Theater Workshop as well as other theater groups of the Greek community of Brussels (AlMA, YGrec, Hellenic Theater of Belgium). The acquaintance brought the collaboration and the collaboration the show in Brussels. The discussion will even be opened with other amateur groups that will attend for the expansion of “Momos” with participations from European cities.
