Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta has intervened in the fallout from Valentino Rossi‘s latest tirade against Marc Marquez. Rossi opened the wound again in 2015 in a podcast conversation when he stuck to his claim nine years ago that Marquez conspired against him and cost him the championship.

“I don’t know, but I think it’s better to leave it as it is,” said Ezpeleta, quoting Crash, Monday (14/10). “It was a long time ago. It was many years ago. To me, it seems good that Marc did not comment on his statement.”

“Of course, I’m not the one who has the right to tell Valentino what he should and shouldn’t do, but I don’t think it would help much if I said it now.”

“I haven’t spoken to Valentino about that and I respect him a lot and am very grateful for what he has done for our sport.”

“I don’t think it’s necessary for me to say that, but if he believes it, feel free to say it.”

Marquez refused to respond to Rossi’s criticism when asked for a response. He has returned to championship contention this season since leaving Honda for Ducati.

His performances earned him a promotion from Gresini to the factory team in 2025. He won his first Grand Prix on a Ducati machine, which Ezpeleta said was beneficial for MotoGP as a whole.

“Last year was already quite fun, but of course it was also good because there were more competitors,” said Ezpeleta. “Marquez is one of the figures in the history of the championship and if he is there, obviously it is better.” (Z-2)
