Prabowo chooses to have 3 deputy ministers of finance, will BPN be canceled? – CNBC Indonesia

Prabowo’s Finance Team: Three’s Company, or a Crowd?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – So, President-Elect Prabowo Subianto has decided that three deputy finance ministers are better than one. You know what they say, never argue with logic! Or was it cake? No matter! The stars aligning in an impressive trio: Suahasil Nazara, Thomas Djiwandoni, and Anggito Abimanyu. Sounds like the setup for a terrible sitcom, doesn’t it? Welcome to the cast of “As the Finance Ministry Turns.”

Now, this begs the question: is Prabowo also going to drop the idea of forming the Ministry of State Revenue, nostalgically reminiscent of the State Revenue Agency? Is that even on the table, or did it get lost in translation when he summoned his cabinet candidates like they were at a buffet? Grab your plates, everyone! Airlangga Hartarto, the guy in the coordinating minister‘s position, pledges he knows nothing about it. He’s dodging questions like it’s the Olympics of tap dances!

Airlangga was tight-lipped when asked about the potential separation of the Directorate General of Taxes from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise to roll it into BPN — a move he claims Sri Mulyani might want to happen. Sure thing, mate! Just a casual “I won’t answer that” when the entire country is eagerly looking for a scoop. Clearly, honesty is the best policy… unless it’s about your boss!

So, Who’s the Big Cheese?

Let’s bring the focus back to Sri Mulyani Indrawati, the financial diva herself. In her own right, she’s practically royalty in the Ministry of Finance. Expect her to lead this finance affair while endlessly juggling the new deputies like they’re flaming torches. Maybe this dynamic duo ensures we don’t set our economic prospects ablaze. Who knows? Let’s just say the financial landscape will probably shift more than a toddler in a candy store.

As Airlangga says, “the structure is clear.” Sounds like something you’d hear right before a game of musical chairs where someone inevitably gets left out. But guess what? We’ve got three deputies now. Can we squeeze everyone into that chair, or is there going to be a little financial Tetris going on?

Could There Be Turmoil Ahead?

With all this cabinet chaos, it’s easy for a wobbly structure to topple over quicker than a poorly balanced Jenga tower. Despite all the chatter about clear cabinet structures, the question remains: What’s to stop these deputies from stepping on each other’s toes? Are they high-fiving or merely fending off some serious financial footsie?

And don’t even get me started on the murmurs behind the scenes. Airlangga’s been too busy to “monitor” what’s actually cooking regarding Sri Mulyani’s demands — or should we say, terms? If he ever *does* check the sugar stash, I hope he’s ready for a surprise. After all, if politics were a cake, this would be a classic case of icing over chaos.

The Bottom Line

At the end of the day, the finance team seems stacked, but let’s see how they handle the pressures of economic responsibility. Will Prabowo’s cabinet manage to keep it together, or will it be a circus with three deputies performing acts in a tightrope financial arena? Grab the popcorn, folks, it’s bound to be a bumpy ride as we watch it unfold leading up to that grand inauguration on October 20, 2024.

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President-Elect Prabowo Subianto chose to position three deputy finance ministers in his cabinet. The three deputy finance ministers are Suahasil Nazara, Thomas Djiwandoni, and Anggito Abimanyu.

With the presence of three deputy ministers of finance, will Prabowo cancel forming the Ministry of State Revenue or what used to be called the State Revenue Agency?

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, who Prabowo also summoned last night to be his ministerial candidate, was reluctant to answer the question. He only stressed that currently the Ministry of Finance is one of the ministries with a clear structure in the Prabowo era before his inauguration on October 20 2024.

“I won’t answer that (the formation of BPN), but the structure is clear from the trio that has been conveyed to the public,” said Airlangga when met at his office, Jakarta, Tuesday (15/10/2024).

As is known, when summoning his 49 ministerial candidates yesterday, one of those Prabowo asked to come was Sri Mulyani Indrawati. Prabowo claimed that Sri Mulyani and other ministerial candidates had expressed their willingness to join his cabinet.

In this way, in the future the Ministry of Finance will again be led by Sri Mulyani, with the assistance of three deputy ministers of finance who were just summoned by Prabowo this afternoon, namely Suahasil Nazara, Thomas Djiwandoni and Anggito Abimanyu.

“Well, it is clear that at the Ministry of Finance, if we look at the structure, the structure is clear,” stressed Airlangga.

On that occasion, Airlangga also admitted that he did not know the truth of the issue which stated that the separation of the Directorate General of Taxes from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise to be merged into BPN was canceled because it was one of the conditions from Sri Mulyani to Prabowo.

“Wow, I don’t monitor it,” said the former General Chair of the Golkar Party.
