Tormod Wilson Losnedal (H) elected as mayor of Stavanger

Losnedal received 34 of the votes from the Conservative Party, Liberal Party, Frp, KrF and the Pensioners’ Party, according to Stavanger Aftenblad.

Dag Mossige from the Labor Party received 31 votes, and the Industrial and Business Party voted blankly.

37-year-old Losnedal thanked for the trust and promised to be inclusive in his style as mayor.

– I went out of business in May and will return straight into the mayor’s chair. It is special. I have been looking forward to this day. But now I’m just looking forward to it. It is an honor to be the mayor of my city, he says.

The new mayor says that everything is now about getting a budget in the city.

Was granted an exemption

A few minutes earlier, the majority in the city council had voted for Sissel Knutsen Hegdal to be relieved of his job as Stavanger mayor.

All politicians voted to grant the exemption application, writes Stavanger Aftenblad.

The temperature was occasionally high during the city council meeting, according to the newspaper. The case has divided the city council, which leveled accusations against each other.

The city council meeting started at 2pm on Monday and continues throughout the afternoon and evening.

Police investigation

Hegdal was mayor of Stavanger until this autumn, but it was revealed that she had used party funds for private use.

When the revelation came, she announced that she was resigning as mayor. Since then, there has been a lot of back and forth regarding the formal aspects of the resignation.

Hegdal has paid back around NOK 51,000, but is still under police investigation for a smaller amount.

Hegdal was mayor for the Conservative Party, but has since resigned and is now independent.
