Sindhu Nawaz, head of the Tolerance March, told the BBC that her house in Hyderabad was raided last night. Apart from this, the houses of nationalist leaders Niaz Kalani and Riyaz Chandio were raided and detained.
The participants of Rawadari March were to go from Tin Talwar area of Karachi to the Press Club and for this several civil society organizations including Human Rights Commission, Rawadari Tehreek, Aurat March, Minority March, Women Democratic Front announced their support.
At the same time, Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan also announced to take out a rally from Tin Talwar and directed its workers to reach that place.
After which the police erected barricades at the FTC location on Shaara Faisal in Karachi, while Tin Talwar, the place of the rally, was also closed from all sides.
A heavy contingent of police was also deployed at the toll plaza. Police set up roadblocks near the main highways, including the FTC. Traffic was affected due to the closure of bridges and roads at many places.
Similarly, the ways to the press club were also closed where journalists were not allowed to go. The police also sealed all entrances and exits of three Talwar and Clifton. The roads were sealed in view of Section 144, police said.
It should be noted that in view of the tense situation, the administration has imposed a ban on all kinds of gatherings, processions and rallies by imposing Section 144 in the city for five days.
In Karachi, several people were detained from Tan Talwar and its surroundings for violating Section 144, after which the number of people detained increased to 35.
Later, the civil society rally cleared the barricades and reached outside the Press Club, where the protesters and the police clashed.
On the other side of the road, a heavy contingent of police and Rangers tried to stop the TLP workers near Saddar, during which the police also shelled the protesters. A police mobile was also set on fire by TLP protesters. While one person was killed in firing near President Metropole. The deceased was identified as TLP worker Aamir Aziz.
Later, Rangers dispersed the protesters.
In this regard, Provincial Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Linjar issued a statement and said that Commissioner Karachi had implemented Section 144 in the city. Detained.
