Gill and Iyer’s centuries, Australia lose the series

India in the second match of the three ODI series Australia defeated by 99 runs to take an unbeaten lead of 0-2 in the series.

In this match played in Indore on Sunday, Australia won the toss and decided to field, then the Indian batsmen took full advantage of the batting wicket and scored 399 runs on the scoreboard.

Shubman Gill, who opened the innings for India, scored a century for the second consecutive match with a good batting performance. He scored 74 runs in the last match.

Apart from Gill, Indian batsmen Shreesh Iyer, Surya Kumar Yadav and KL Rahul also showed aggressive batting while keeping the Australian bowlers on their toes.

Shrees Iyer was dismissed for 105 runs while KL Rahul scored 52 runs and Surya Kumar scored 72 runs.

On behalf of Australia, Cameron Green took two wickets for 103 runs in 10 overs. Suryakumar Yadav played his part in making Cameron Green the most expensive bowler of the match by hitting four sixes in his one over.

In response to the Indian innings, when Australia started batting, the match was rained out. When the match resumed after the break, Australia under Duckworth Lewis got a tough target of 317 runs in 33 overs.

But the Australian batsmen continued to score at a rapid pace, due to which the wickets of Australia kept falling at regular intervals.

Apart from David Warner and Shaun Abbott, none of the Australian batsmen could settle down and the entire team was bowled out for 217 runs in the 29th over.

India also defeated Australia by five wickets in the first match of this series, after which India became the number one team in the ICC ODI rankings.

Before this, the Indian team is at the first place in the Test cricket and T20 rankings as well. The third match of the series will be played on September 27 in Rajkot.
