In the audit report submitted by the Punjab government to the provincial assembly, financial irregularities worth billions of rupees have come to light in Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park.
According to the report, in the construction of Greater Iqbal Park, more than 21.98 million was spent illegally on prohibited items.
The report stated that payments of over Rs 17.51 crore were made without documents for distribution of salaries to the employees of the National History Museum.
16.47 crore loss to PHA through faulty contract in National Museum, expenditure record of 8.44 crore was not provided to the audit report.
According to the report, more than 1 crore was spent on the opening of Greater Iqbal Park in violation of the rules, Greater Iqbal Park administration gave Rs 25 crore as illegal advance to private firms, 10 crore 91 lakh to contractors Statutory extras were paid over Rs 785 lakhs for the services of the National History Museum.
The AUST report stated that the Greater Iqbal Park administration did not pay more than 52.6 million sales tax, construction works worth more than 2.6 billion were awarded to contractors in violation of papara rules, 31 5.5 million crores, instead of tenders, super goods were procured on the basis of quotations. 25.53 crores, instead of running the operational affairs of Greater Iqbal, a private company was expanded.
