Reactions of fractional bonuses

On October 10, the fractional payment of bonuses for public sector workers began. The measure provoked a reaction from multiple users on social networks who were dissatisfied with the amounts.

They deposited a Christmas Bonus and a fortnight at the UCV, it is incredible for the world what a university professor earns, bringing Christmas forward with starvation wages to ‘normalize’ the country,” said lawyer María Verdeal in a message from what was deposited: 250.19 bolivars ($6.40, according to the official rate of the Central Bank of Venezuela).

Given the amount of the bonus payment deposited, several users who identify themselves as teachers expressed their frustration. The Teacher’s Guild X account reported that this would be the third consecutive year in which the Executive deposits $12 in bonuses.

“For the third consecutive year, bonuses have been paid with the same salary, which is currently less than $12 per month. The feeling of the teaching union is one of frustration and discontent in the face of this situation. It is unacceptable that so much is demanded and that pittance of bonuses are paid,” he said.

A user identified as Yuhendrik Zamora, who identifies himself as a university professor, assured that he spent his bonuses on three products.

“I went to the supermarket and bought three products and the month of bonuses was over,” he said in a message published in X on October 12.

Currently, the minimum wage for the public sector is 130 bolivars, which is equivalent to $3.34.

Likewise, on October 4, the coordinator of the Trade Union Network and the Health Monitor, Mauro Zambrano, assured that the income of Venezuelan workers is precarious and insufficient to cover the needs of families regarding the Christmas and Christmas festivities. New Year.

“It is not possible to have a happy Christmas with a bonus of dollars a month and the family scattered around the world,” Zambrano said in a press conference.

The union leader urged the Venezuelan authorities to dignify workers’ salaries and their social benefits.
