Finnish police write in a press release that at around 8pm on Sunday evening they received a report of a violent incident in an apartment in the city of Espoo, just west of Helsinki in Finland.
When they arrived at the apartment, a man in his 60s was arrested. He is charged with having committed murder with a firearm.
– The arrest went according to plan, and the suspect came out of the apartment himself, the police write.
Professional ice hockey player
According to the Finnish media, the man who was killed is the former professional ice hockey player Janne Puhakka (29). He is a participant in the TV program “Petolliset”, which is the Finnish version of the reality series “Traitor”, and which has been on Finnish TV lately.
The production company Nelonen Media, which is behind “Petolliset”, confirms in a press release on Monday that it was Puhakka who was killed.
– The last episode of the Petolliset season was scheduled to be shown on Thursday this week. We have come to the conclusion that right now is not the right time to air the episode. We will return later to the question of when we will show the episode, writes Nelonen Media, according to Helsingin Sanomat.
The charge intensified
The man in his 60s who has been arrested was initially charged with premeditated murder, but on Monday afternoon the charge was changed to premeditated murder, writes Yle.
The police aim to question the accused man on Monday.
