“SYRIZA faces a decisive crisis”, what does it propose for the election of the president

THE Dionysis Teboneras suggested Friday morning the suspension of the presidential election process in SYRIZAwarning that otherwise the party risks dissolution. “We cannot choose leadership in this climate. SYRIZA is in a crisis that threatens it with dissolution”he emphasized. In addition, he called for an extraordinary congress to be convened in early 2025 to determine the party’s ideological direction.
As he said, “SYRIZA can be at the forefront of a discussion about society for a broad democratic front on the basis of inviting progressive forces in society. Let there be an agreement that will end up in a government proposal.”

When asked how any power vacuum will be filled, Mr. Teboneras explained that “during this time, the Political Secretariat and the Central Committee can act as president”.

“I believe that it is the only proposal that can provide a way out because any other proposal to hold elections in the political vacuum as we only discuss the political kitchen, leads to the dissolution of SYRIZA. Can impeachment of the president be an object of the conference? Is this about society?’ added Mr Teboneras.

“We cannot go to an election with warlike terms, one against the other. I had submitted the same proposal to the Central Committee last year and it had a minority vote,” added the SYRIZA official.

He also observed that “until recently the Central Committee agreed with the leadership. Something happened and the political bond was broken, Kasselakis did something wrong and he has been dismissed.”
