“We are still finalizing the rules, we can’t rush them. Because we have to know the impact when implemented at the fisherman and farmer level. We are continuing to test them,” said Bahlil in Jakarta, Thursday (10/10).

He said that the regulations were almost final, but Bahlil did not explain further whether these regulations would be implemented during the administration of Indonesian President Joko Widodo or the next government.

“The regulations are almost final, but whether it will be the time of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo (Jokowi) or the elected president, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, it’s just a matter of time,” said Bahlil.

For information, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, said that tightening the purchase of subsidized fuel so that it is more targeted is planned to be implemented on October 1 2024, but is not yet ready.

The government is currently still discussing tightening these regulations so that they are more targeted and reflect justice. The formulation of the regulations issued must be distributed fairly to the farmer and fisherman level. Restrictions on purchasing subsidized fuel will only be implemented after a Ministerial Regulation (Permen) is issued.

Bahlil said that in the future regulations regarding the purchase of subsidized fuel will be regulated in the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation, no longer in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 191 of 2014 concerning the Supply, Distribution and Retail Selling Prices of Fuel, which is currently in the process of being revised.

He also cannot provide detailed information regarding the contents of the regulations related to fuel restrictions, because it is still under study. (Ant/N-2)
