When is the deadline, what should we watch out for?

The deadline is July 31 which has been given for her filing of tax returns from natural and legal persons and the payment of the first installment is coming, tax expert Ilias Hatzigeorgiou told ERT.

The deadline for submission of declarations for O.E. members and E.E. who keep aplographic books is August 16. Those who changed their tax residence in 2022 and relatives of the deceased have until December 31 to submit a tax return, he said. Until December 31, all returns with retrospectives of previous years are also submitted.

The system was opened on March 30 but there were deficiencies that prevented the submission of declarations, he said. The system still has a long way to go until full digitization, he clarified.

As for the fines to those who will not submit their tax declaration on time are:

  • 100 euros for non-professionals
  • 250 euros for businesses with simple books
  • 500 euros for businesses with duplicate books

NO penalty is imposed if:

  • The statement is chargeable
  • It is not debitable, but the tax does not exceed 100 euros

Also:

  • A surcharge of 0.73% is imposed on the debit statements every month on the amount of each unpaid installment.

Until yesterday, out of a total of approximately 6.5 million TINs, more than 3.5 million tax returns had been submitted with 51% being zero and 17% being credit.
