DEPUTY General Chair of the Democratic Party and Deputy Chair of the Indonesian MPR Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas) said that Indonesia must not be left behind in terms of progress and welfare of the people. He said, in the midst of global economic and political turmoil, it is very important to carry out strengthening in various lines.

“Our country has a strategic position in maintaining a balance between national interests and international geopolitical pressures. “In the ever-changing world situation, Indonesia must of course be prepared with a careful policy strategy in order to survive or even excel amidst global competition,” said Ibas, in the Executive Course Program on Geopolitics, Geostrategy, Geoeconomics, and Statecraft Cohort-8 of the Indonesian Defense University FY 2024, Friday (11/10).

According to Ibas and in line with what the President-elect, Prabowo Subianto, thinks, there needs to be strengthening of national security, food security, energy security and clean water security. “Indonesia must not be left behind in terms of progress and prosperity,” said Ibas.

This program also explains that from an economic perspective, the ratio between additional output and additional capital (ICOR) in Indonesia must be better in the future so that the economy can grow and equitable development can be developed. “Of course, if the economy grows, people will be more prosperous,” said Ibas.

Ibas conveyed that Indonesia’s appropriate political economic strategy is very important to be able to survive amidst international dynamics. He emphasized that the ‘Millions Friend and Zero Enemy’ policy could become a principle of Indonesia’s diplomacy and international relations in this era.

“In the era of global competition, we must be able to build strong partnerships with many countries, while maintaining our sovereignty and national interests. The principle of ‘Millions Friend and Zero Enemy’ is an important basis for realizing this vision,” explained Ibas.

The chairman of the DPR RI Democratic Party faction hopes that these good programs can continue to exist and provide great benefits.

“Hopefully this program can continue to make a big contribution in building the capacity of future national leaders, as well as encouraging Indonesia to become a stronger, more sovereign and prosperous country in this challenging era,” he concluded. (Z-9)
