English clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are willing to offer huge salaries to persuade players to join their clubs.
The teamtalk website published a list of the 10 players receiving the highest weekly wages in the 2024-25 season, and the players’ ranking was as follows:
10. Kai Havertz (£280,000)
Arsenal spent an initial £60m and a further £5m in potential add-ons to sign Havertz from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.
In addition to the transfer fee, the Gunners also paid a large salary to the player, giving him 280,000 pounds per week.
He overtook Gabriel Jesus as the highest-paid player in the Emirates, and his contract also includes an additional £50,000 per week in potential bonuses.
The German international silenced his critics in his first season and established himself as Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta’s number one striker.
9. Bruno Fernandes (£300,000)
Fernandes has been Manchester United’s standout performer in recent years, winning Sir Matt Busby’s Player of the Season award in the 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2023-24 seasons.
His name was linked to moving away during the summer transfer period, but in the end he signed a new long-term contract and became the second highest paid player at Old Trafford, the stronghold of the Red Devils club.
The Portuguese international now receives a basic salary of 300,000 pounds sterling per week, which equates to about 15.6 million pounds sterling annually. He could also receive another £75,000 per week in bonuses.
9. Jack Grealish (£300,000)
One of four Manchester City players on this list, Grealish left Aston Villa and joined Pep Guardiola’s side in a £100m deal in 2021.
The English international received a significant increase in his salary, rising from 125,000 pounds per week at his boyhood club to 300,000 pounds per week at Al-Ittihad.
He had a disappointing first season before regaining his best form in 2022-23, helping City win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
The 29-year-old dropped down the pecking order following the arrival of Jeremy Doku and played a small role in the 2023-24 season.
9. Marcus Rashford (£300,000)
Rashford, a Manchester United academy graduate, scored 30 goals in all competitions in the 2022-23 season and was rewarded with a new five-year contract.
The 26-year-old’s basic salary is now £300,000 per week and he can earn an additional £75,000 per week in potential bonuses.
He failed to replicate his 2022-23 form during a difficult 2023-24 season but insisted he remains highly motivated to help his boyhood club.
9. Bernardo Silva (£300,000)
Silva received an offer worth £500,000 per week from Al Hilal Saudi Club in 2023, but he rejected this tempting offer and signed a contract extension with Manchester City.
The new contract, which reportedly includes a £50m release clause, saw his City salary double from £150,000 per week to £300,000 per week.
5. Raheem Sterling (£325,000)
Sterling joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022 and signed a five-year contract worth £325,000-per-week, making him the highest-paid player at Stamford Bridge.
He had difficulty justifying this huge salary in his first two seasons with the club, as he scored only 19 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.
The 29-year-old is spending the 2024-25 season on loan at Arsenal, and they pay him 162,500 pounds per week, while Chelsea is still covering the other half of his salary.
4. Mohamed Salah (350 thousand pounds sterling)
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has helped the team win the Premier League title, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the Champions League, the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

He joined Manchester United in the summer of 2022 and signed a contract worth £350,000-a-week, although the Brazilian international insisted that money was not part of his consideration in accepting the switch.
He had a fantastic first season at Old Trafford, helping United win the Carabao Cup and finish third in the Premier League.
But the 32-year-old has suffered a noticeable decline in form over the past 12 months, and Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to be looking to take his salary off the club’s player payrolls.
2. Erling Haaland (375 thousand pounds sterling)
Manchester City have won the race to sign Haaland in 2022 after triggering the £51.2m release clause in his contract with Borussia Dortmund.
Manchester City agreed to make the Norwegian international one of the highest-paid players in the English Premier League, and will pay him a basic salary of 375,000 pounds sterling per week.
The striker justified this wage by scoring 52 goals in all competitions in his first season before scoring 38 goals in the 2023-24 season.

After Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract with Manchester United was terminated by mutual consent in November 2022, De Bruyne took his place as the highest paid player in the Premier League.
The Manchester City midfielder signed his last contract extension in April 2021, which raised his salary to 400,000 pounds per week.
He justified this increase in wages by winning the Best Player Award in the English Premier League in the 2021-22 season, before playing a key role in the treble-winning campaign with Manchester City in the 2022-23 season.
But the 33-year-old player’s contract expires at the end of the current season, and he is now considering receiving a very lucrative offer from the Saudi Professional League.
