Fastest century, half-century: Nepal breaks T20 records

In the same match, Nepal’s batsman Kushal Mala set a new T20 world record by scoring a century in just 34 balls. Before him, this record is jointly held by South Africa’s David Miller and India’s Rohit Sharma, who scored 35-ball centuries.

Malla scored a total of 137 runs from just 50 balls, with a strike rate of 274. This innings included 12 sixes and eight fours.

In the same match, the record for the fastest half-century was also established. Nepal’s Deependra Singh scored a half-century in just nine balls. Earlier this record was held by India’s Yuvraj Singh and West Indies’ Chris Gayle who scored half-centuries in 12 balls.

Deependra’s innings included eight sixes. He also achieved another record. He scored a total of 52 runs and his strike rate was 520.

This is the first time in the history of T20 cricket that a player has scored at a strike rate of 500 or more and also bowled at least ten balls.

Moreover, the Nepalese team hit a total of 26 sixes during the innings which is another record. This record was previously held by Afghanistan who hit a total of 22 sixes against Ireland.

Similarly, West Indies also hit 22 sixes against South Africa.
