There is less than a month to go before the presidential elections scheduled in the United States and there is a growing sense of nervousness among Democrats over the limited progress achieved in recent weeks by the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris, the Party’s candidate for the White House. This is what the television station “CNN” states, according to which what worries the Democrats, in addition to the general stasis of the polls, is also the fact that the vice president has not yet completely refined her political message, with consequent communicative hesitations such as those attributed to the candidate during a recent, long interview with the television broadcaster “Cbs News”. The enthusiasm following Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential campaign, which Harris took over about two and a half months ago, initially collecting hundreds of millions of dollars in donations and immediately achieving a jump in the polls, has given way to the impression that « (the vice president’s) campaign is bogged down.”
Polls give Kamala Harris an average of three points ahead of her Republican opponent Donald Trump at a national level, but in the key states on which the outcome of the vote will depend the two candidates are tied, and making predictions is difficult. According to the US television broadcaster, the Democrats are also struggling to decide which components of the electorate to concentrate on in order to tip the scales in favor of their candidate: some are pushing to concentrate the last weeks of the electoral campaign on the moderate wing of the Republican electorate dissatisfied with Trump: Harris herself seems to have partly adopted this strategy, for example with her positions of cautious support for the right to possess firearms, the admission of the need to combat illegal migratory flows and the archiving of positions against the increase in oil drilling activities. However, this is an effort which, according to several party analysts, risks not producing appreciable results. The latter instead underline how Harris’ campaign arouses little enthusiasm among the male electorate, including African Americans, and argue the need to use the little time available to try to reverse this trend.
