They create a center in Spain to help Venezuelan migrants forced to leave their country

The NGO Red Reto created the European Center for Venezuelan Migration (CEMVE) which aims to address the reality of Venezuelans who left their country in a “forced” manner and traveled to Spain in search of a better life, as well as their contribution to society and gather support for them.

Through a statement Cristina D’avolio, academic coordinator of Red Reto, an organization of Venezuelan migrants, explained that “For some it is diaspora, for us it is forced migration. Our focus is on being able to influence the causes and consequences of this migration.

According to the statement, the CEMVE’s priority is to “raise the levels of positive impact and incidence in society, through monitoring actions, strategies, studies and reports on Venezuelan migration.”

For her part, Anamaría González Oxford, founding director of Red Reto, indicated that “it is essential to generate public policies that understand, know and support the reality of Venezuelan migration in Spain.” Given this, the CEMVE will carry out a survey on Venezuelan migration in Spain this year.

“We are interested in highlighting the contribution of Venezuelan migrants to the labor market, the economy and society in general,” highlighted William Gil D’avolio, member of Red Reto.

The survey, which is anonymous, seeks to describe the situation of Venezuelan migration found in Spain and has the support of the Venezuelan organizations Voto Joven Abroad and the Venezuelan Observatory of LGBTIQ+ Violence.

“The lack of institutional data that reflects the reality of young Venezuelans is a fact and it is necessary to have elements of value to support them, as well as people from the LGTBIQ+ group,” said these organizations.
