Apple’s big decision regarding iPhones ‘Pro’ series

Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017, starting with the iPhone SE. Since then, Apple has launched iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 15 in India. But Apple has never produced the “Pro” variants in the country…

According to a Bloomberg report, for the first time in history, Apple will start manufacturing Pro models in India, starting with the iPhone 16 Pro that is slated to launch next month.

Apple has steadily expanded its manufacturing operations in India, initially focusing on entry-level and older iPhone models. In 2021 and 22, the company began assembling the iPhone 14 models in India. By 2023, iPhone 15 units manufactured in India were available on the first day of global sales. Initially production included only twenty models, but Pegatron later managed local production of the iPhone 15 Plus.

Apple aims to increase India’s share of its global production, targeting 25 percent of all iPhone production in the country in the next 3 to 4 years.

According to the latest report, Foxconn Technology Group is a key partner of Apple that is preparing to assemble the new iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models within weeks of their global launch this fall.

The report also states that Foxconn has already started training thousands of workers at its facility in Tamil Nadu, aiming to align local production with worldwide releases.

The company is moving quickly to ensure that these flagship devices are as ready for a global debut as possible, though the details will remain under wraps.
